Sometimes looking for a gift to a friend or loved ones is very hard especially if the recipients already have almost everything. They don’t ask nor need anything, but still we want to give them something to show our respect, gratitude, and appreciation. According to Patrick Allan of Lifehacker.com, here’s what you can do.
Give Them Memories Instead of Material Things.
People love good memories; help them remember some of the good times they’ve had. Look through your albums and find an old photo of the two of you, then buy a nice frame for it. Or you can ask an artist to copy the picture using a charcoal or watercolor. If you have digital photos, you may create a slideshow of it with message or nice caption on each one.
If you have some people to help you, Phyllis of Real Simple said a memory jar is a great gift too. Let everyone write their favorite memory of the recipient and place it inside a jar.
Give Them an Experience They’re Interested In.
This will definitely make your recipient happy. Just make sure it’s something they will actually want to partake into. Give them something like a movie pass or a concert tickets or register them to an art exhibit. You may also give them an opportunity to improve something that they’re passionate about. Like enroll them to an art class, sports clinics, or voice lessons. Or give them time to relax and to pamper themselves live a gift certificate to a massage, spa, or a beauty salon.
Give Them Something Personalized.
Again, depending on your recipient’s interest find something useful that you can personalized by adding some prints, engraves or embroidery. More common examples to this are personalized mugs, pens, luggage tags, key chains, and couple t-shirts. There are some who gave necklace with name pendants or a fashion bracelet with beads that spell the name of the recipient.
Give Them Consumables.
If your recipients already have almost everything, you can never go wrong with consumables. There’s nothing wrong to have more supply of favorite canned goods, chocolates, or wine. And if you have a gift idea that you’re not sure your recipient would like, add some consumables to it. Example, you may add a pack of roasted peanuts that your recipient could munch while reading a book that you bought in a book sale. Or, you may add a bottle of wine to a wallet that you’ll give to your officemate.
Give Your Time.
Time is the most valuable thing in the world and a special someone will be more delighted if you will spare some of your time for her. If your working away from home, you may spend some of your holidays to your parents in the province. Or you may offer your sister to babysit your niece and nephew.
